Project Details

The Fez Delivery Shopify App was developed to seamlessly connect merchants’ Shopify stores with Fez Delivery’s logistics system. The app enables merchants to automate the entire delivery workflow from order syncing and pickup scheduling to real-time shipping rate calculation and package tracking.

Through an intuitive Shopify dashboard built with Shopify Polaris, merchants can manage all delivery operations without leaving their store’s backend. The app integrates directly with Fez Delivery’s APIs to handle order creation, shipping label generation, returns management, and live tracking updates. By combining automation with a user-friendly interface, the app simplifies fulfillment for Shopify merchants and enhances the post-purchase experience for customers.

Project Objective

Develop a Shopify app that enables e-commerce merchants to:

  • Automatically sync their Shopify orders to Fez Delivery.
  • Schedule pickups directly from their Shopify dashboard.
  • Display real-time delivery rates and estimated times at checkout.
  • Provide customers with live tracking links for their shipments.

Scope of Work

Originally, Fez requested plugins for Shopify, WooCommerce, and WordPress, but our development focused exclusively on Shopify, building a fully integrated third-party app for the Shopify App Store.

Key Features Developed

1. Merchant Dashboard Integration

  • Order Sync: Used Shopify’s orders/create webhook to push order data (ID, items, address) to Fez Delivery’s system through the Order Creation API.
  • Pickup Scheduling: Created a dashboard in the app for merchants to select pickup dates and times, integrated with Fez’s Pickup Scheduling API.
  • Shipping Label Generation: Integrated Fez’s Barcode API for printing barcodes and shipping labels within Shopify.
  • Returns Management: Enabled merchants to schedule return pickups via the Returns API.

2. Customer-Facing Features

  • Real-Time Shipping Rates: Implemented the Carrier Service API to calculate dynamic shipping rates based on package weight, destination, and service type.
  • Live Order Tracking: Displayed Fez tracking links on Shopify’s order status page using data from Fez’s Order Tracking API.
  • Delivery Options: Merchants could offer Standard, Express, or Smart Locker delivery at checkout.

3. Admin & Analytics

  • Built a Fez admin view for monitoring synced orders and performance reports.
  • Added daily summary reports and error notifications for failed syncs.

Results & Impact

  • Seamless automation of delivery workflow for Shopify merchants in Nigeria.
  • Reduced manual order entry by 80%.
  • Enabled merchants to ship both locally and internationally with live tracking.
  • Improved delivery transparency and customer satisfaction.

Outcome

The Fez Delivery Shopify App is now live on the Shopify App Store, enabling merchants to manage local and international deliveries directly within their Shopify admin.
