The Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine (PSIM) is a leading professional body uniting medical specialists across Pakistan, focused on advancing internal medicine through education, conferences, and community building. To enhance member engagement and administrative efficiency, we developed a custom Laravel backend dashboard that centralizes key functionalities for members and admins.
Key features include:
- Courses Management: Track total enrolled (09), completed (12), ongoing (03), and pending payments (01) courses, allowing members to monitor their continuing medical education (CME).
- Attendance Tracking: Overview of last attended events (e.g., 2nd PIMCON 2024) and pending attendances (e.g., International Conference 2025), ensuring accurate records for certification.
- Certificates Handling: View available certificates for download (e.g., 5th Annual Conference 2024, International Conference 2025) and pending issuances with estimated processing times (e.g., 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 days).
- Calendar Integration: A dynamic calendar for January 2026 and beyond, categorizing events like Courses (green), Public Events (blue), Academic Events (purple), and Conferences (red), with views for month, week, or day.
- Notifications System: Categorized alerts for System Updates, Member Invitations (e.g., new requests from Dr. Sarah Ahmed), Guest/Visitor Invitations, Faculty Invitations, Contact Queries (e.g., from Zainab Malik inquiring about membership), and Event Reminders (e.g., upcoming PIMCON), with actions like Approve/Reject, Respond, or View Details.
- User Roles and Security: Supports associate memberships with secure access to personal dashboards, notifications bell (showing 3 unread), and settings for profile management.
Built with Laravel for its powerful PHP framework capabilities, the backend handles API endpoints for real-time data syncing, database management with MySQL, and secure authentication. The frontend uses responsive design elements to ensure usability on desktops and mobiles. This solution reduces administrative burdens, improves member retention by providing easy access to professional resources, and facilitates event planning for PSIM's growing community of over 30,000 specialists on platforms like Facebook.
The project demonstrates how Laravel can power scalable, secure backend systems for professional associations, fostering better organization and member satisfaction in the healthcare sector.
